VALDES (Department of Value & Decision Science) is the pioneer graduate school that was founded for the purpose of practical research and education in a fusion of social and human sciences in 1996. A leader to solve a social problem of the 21st century to globalize needs to own a prominent ability on a value judgment and decision making. We have aimed to train new type leaders. Experience of research and education for the ten years makes a clear distinction from other graduate schools advocating interdisciplinary courses or a fusion of social and human science.
In the 21st century there are a lot of social problems, which cannot solve without international cooperation, such as newly global terrorism, global warming, natural disasters, expansion of avian influenza, and various crimes over the inter net. Moreover the domestic problems, such as rapid aging, a financial problem, and increase of NEET, newly appeared. The cause and the solution of these problems may be independent and relevant mutually in essential sense. Thus it is necessary to master a wisdom of value judgment to see through the essence of the problem deeply and a skill of decision making to solve the problem.
VALDES consists of three lectures to bring up a leader owning prominent ability on a value judgment and decision making.
The staffs of various specialized fields gather for each lecture. Each lecture is administered with mutual cooperation all in one body. |
